In the end, it was short-lived: after becoming the cheapest fuel in Luxembourg earlier this week, diesel prices are once again on the rise.
Effective from Friday, 26 January, the price of diesel is set to increase to €1.527 per litre, marking a rise of 1.8 cents. Consequently, a full 50 litres of diesel will now cost €76.35 at petrol stations across Luxembourg.
This places diesel one cent higher than petrol, which maintains its current price of €1.518 for SP95. The price for SP98 also remains unchanged at €1.74 per litre.
The recent increase brings the cost of a litre of diesel up by nine cents since its last low in mid-December when it was priced at €1.436.
In tandem with the changes in fuel prices, heating oil has also seen a rise. The cost of a litre of 10 ppm heating oil now stands at €0.987, reflecting an increase of 2.1 cents.
