Südspidol hospital projectDelays due to CHEM's repeated requests for changes, says architecture firm

The Austrian architecture firm HTE published a statement explaining why the contract for the construction of the "Südspidol" was terminated two weeks ago.

According to Health Team Europe (HTE), the project was delayed several times because the client, i.e. the Centre hospitalier Émile-Mayrisch (CHEM) in Esch-sur-Alzette, repeatedly requested changes to the initial project.

While HTE regrets the current situation, the architecture firm also states that they are “happy” that the project was not scrapped and are ready to hand it over.

The Chamber of Deputies approved the funding of €540 million for the project three years ago. HTE was responsible for the construction sum of €300 million.

However, according to HTE’s statement, the initial project has by now been amended countless times, which was the reason behind the significant delay of the transition from design to construction. At the earliest, construction work is now expected to start in late-2023.
