The nonprofit organisation Impact Moldova, based in Luxembourg, hosted the second edition of its annual Charity Ball on Saturday, 25 January. Over 100 people from Luxembourg gathered together at the Drescherhaus Cultural Center in Dommeldange, for a noble cause: supporting the project “Access to Education and Culture through Modern and Attractive Libraries”.
Impact Moldova is a nonprofit organisation, founded in 2021 in Luxembourg by five enthusiastic young women from the Republic of Moldova. The organisation’s mission is to improve access to education and create career opportunities for students, including those from disadvantaged communities in the Republic of Moldova.
As a result of the organisers’ efforts and the generosity of the participants, a total of over €5000 was collected. These funds will be allocated to expanding the book collection, purchasing furniture, and equipping with the necessary technical equipment, 3 rural libraries from the Republic of Moldova.
His Excellency Alain de Muyser, Ambassador of Luxembourg to Moldova (non-resident), also attended the event.
“This is an adventure for Luxembourg – we never saw the need to institutionalise our ties until now. It is also a discovery. We are working to engage our governments in meaningful dialogue, and our message is clear: Moldova belongs to Europe. Like Luxembourg, Moldova’s strength lies in its people. Today is not about my presence but about your impact here. Stay authentic, be proud, and teach us in Luxembourg about who you are,” said Ambassador de Muyser.
Carolina Dogaru, the president of the organisation admits that organizing a charity ball in Luxembourg was no easy challenge: “The City of Luxembourg provides non-governmental organizations with access to venues for meetings and events at very favourable rates, which was a great help. It allowed us to organise a high-quality event in a wonderful location, at Drescherhaus Cultural Center.”
