Several burglaries and muggings took place on Saturday, reveal the latest reports from the Grand Ducal Police.

Watchful neighbours in Rippig became attentive to noises from one of the nearby houses and witnessed burglars entering the building through a broken window. Realising that they had been spotted, the burglars fled the scene before police arrived. A search for them remained unsuccessful.

Further break-ins occurred in Mertzig, Belvaux, and Howald on Saturday evening.

In Luxembourg City, four muggings took place on Saturday afternoon. Pickpockets stole wallets and phones from the purses and bags of their unsuspecting victims. A similar incident was also reported in Strassen. Police have launched investigations in all cases, say officials.

At 6pm, a more violent mugging was reported in the capital. Three people were ambushed by a group, who stole their valuables and repeatedly hit one of the victims for refusing to give up the items. An investigation has been opened.
