On Monday, the Ministry of the Environment and the Water Management Authority officially announced the lifting of the cyanobacteria alert.
In a press release, they stated that the situation “has returned to normal.” They attributed this positive change to seasonal variations in climate and hydrodynamics at the Upper Sûre Lake, which have resulted in a significant reduction in cyanobacteria biomass.
The Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) conducted measurements that support the conclusion that the public health alert concerning microbiological and toxic risks is no longer warranted. Consequently, there is no longer a threat to pets or fishing activities. With the exception of swimming, recreational and sporting activities can now resume at the Upper Sûre Lake.
