At around 4.30pm on Wednesday, police were alerted to a suspicious person on private property on Boulevard de Verdun in Belair, Luxembourg City.
A man had reportedly tried to force open several windows before entering the house via a balcony after smashing one of them. Once inside, he searched several rooms and placed a number of items in a bag he found in the property.
While officers examined evidence and surveillance footage at the scene, they heard a noise near the house. A man then jumped from a balcony at the front of the building, landing almost directly in front of them.
The suspect resisted officers but was restrained.
Police found and seized cash and several items of jewellery while searching him. The stolen property was returned to the homeowner.
The suspect was arrested and brought before an investigating judge.
