The latest police report warns of fresh scam attempts circulating in the Grand Duchy.

Recently, there has been another spate of fraudsters posing as Luxtrust or bank employees in order to dupe their victims into handing over their personal details. As always, the scammers claim they have detected a suspicious transaction on the victim's bank card, and follow it up by saying an employee will come to the victim's residence to collect the card and check their access.

Police say a bank or another such institution would never ask customers to provide bank details or other personal data over the phone. They advise the public to contact their bank directly if they are unsure over any contact, and to ensure any elderly relatives or friends are aware of the scam.

In addition, authorities have noticed more and more young people being recruited by scammers to carry out fraudulent tasks such as collecting victims' cards. Police say young people should also be mindful of these scams and they should be aware that conducting such a task is a criminal offence.

Anyone who has fallen victim to a scam should contact their local police station.
