Seven people suffered carbon monoxide poisoning after a fire broke out in a cellar on Rue Dicks in Esch during the night to Thursday, according to emergency services.

The blaze started at around 12.34am in the basement of a residential building.

Emergency services responded in large numbers, with the Samu from Esch-sur-Alzette on site and four ambulances from Esch-sur-Alzette, Kayl, and Differdange. Firefighters from Esch-sur-Alzette, Kayl, Schifflange, Pétange, and Luxembourg City were also deployed to bring the situation under control.

It was not the only incident that evening. In Howald, a bin inside a house on Rue Sangenberg caught fire at around 8.30pm, though no injuries were reported.
