The court announced a 15-year prison sentence on Thursday morning for three Luxembourgers who had been charged with terrorism and suspected of joining the IS in Syria and Iraq.

None of the three defendants are still alive. The sentence matches what the prosecution had requested.

The verdict for Steve Duarte, a Luxembourg IS fighter, will be delivered on Monday. According to RTL soruces, Duarte is currently held captive in a northern Syrian prison and was tried in absentia for murder.

He faces a possible life sentence.
