After 25 years of hard work and dedication, Marc Lies has announced his resignation as mayor of Hesperange and member of the local council.
As confirmed by the Christian Social People Party's statement, the mayor of Hesperange, Marc Lies, will resign from his post and send his resignation papers to the Grand Duke in the coming days.
After 25 years of loyalty and dedication he poured into the commune of Hesperange, the mayor has decided to step down. His health prompted this decision, albeit with a heavy heart. Marc Lies will also resign from his position in the local council, but he intends to focus on his responsibility as deputy.
In his public statement, the soon-to-be former mayor explains how difficult it was for him to step down, as communal politics has been a part of his life for almost three decades. It was where he connected with people and lived out his passion. His parting speech emphasises how grateful Marc Lies is for the trust he was given for all these years.
CSV Hesperange is deeply indebted to Marc Lies, as he was a committed and reliable mayor, who had the future in sight and always considered the commune's integrity his main priority.
