CFL is embarking on their yearly Easter holiday construction, impacting the Esch-sur-Alzette, Arlon, and Thionville-Metz lines and northern Luxembourg connections.

No trains will be running for the next two weeks. Passengers are asked to adapt to the updated train schedules for Luxembourg and cross-border regions.

The National Railway Company has announced they will be doing major renovation work during the Easter holidays. This work is expected to disrupt the circulation of trains on certain train lines.

Disruptions for French cross-border commuters and commuters to Esch-sur-Alzette

The renovation will notably concern the Luxembourg-Bettembourg line, the most travelled route in Luxembourg. The area also includes the lines to Esch-sur-Alzette and Rodange, as well as those to Thionville and Metz.

In order to allow the construction to take place on the second track of the interchange hub in Howald, the trains will be disrupted from Saturday 5 April to Monday 21 April, including those days. Ultimately, this construction will enable the lines to France and Esch-sur-Alzette to be completely separated. As the construction continues, passengers will have to take the bus L60 to get from Luxembourg to Bettembourg.

No trains to Belgium

CFL is also renovating the Luxembourg–Kleinbettingen–Arlon line. It will be completely closed for traffic from Saturday 5 to Monday 21 April, including those days. Replacement L50 buses will serve all stops between Luxembourg and Arlon. A direct bus, L52 will also provide a non-stop link between the two cities.

Disruptions on the North Luxembourg line

Nightly construction on the rails will go from Saturday 5 April to Saturday 19 April. Trains will not circulate from 7.40pm to 3.30am between Ettelbruck and Gouvy as well as Kautenbach and Wiltz. CFL has organised replacement buses for popular connections. Ettelbruck and Gouvy via Wilwerwiltz will be serviced by bus L15, Ettelbruck and Gouvy by a direct connection with L16 bus, and Ettelbruck and Wiltz via Kautenbach with Bus L17.
