The aircraft was diverted to Geneva during its Monday morning flight from Milan to Luxembourg City as a precautionary measure after a pressure issue was detected in the oil circuit the airline confirmed, 2 April, in an official Luxair press release.

Representatives of Luxair also stated that at no stage was there a risk to passengers and crew, and those on board were swiftly supported by firefighters called to the evacuation – a common precautionary measure and safety procedure for all unscheduled landings.

All passengers were re-booked and were able to reach their final destination on the same day.

The aircraft later returned to Luxembourg without issue.

Flight LG6992, carrying 69 passengers, departed Milan at 8.40am before altering course to Switzerland.

Firefighters awaited the arrival of the Luxair plane in Geneva.
