While the tram stop at Findel Airport will be official from 2 March, preparations for an extended tram line in Kirchberg are underway.
The arrival of the tram at the airport on 2 March will mark an important milestone: the completion of the first 16 km line linking the Stade de Luxembourg to Luxembourg airport will serve 24 stations, including 10 interchanges, according to the press release by Luxtram.
The first extension of tram line 1 will be completed with the construction of a new section at Kirchberg (K2A), starting at the Pfaffenthal/Kirchberg interchange and running along Boulevard Konrad Adenauer as far as the European School. The new extension between the Grande-Duchesse Charlotte bridge and the European School is scheduled to open in September 2027. Prior to the construction of the tramway platform, Luxtram will be carrying out preparatory work between Avenue John F. Kennedy and Rue Richard Coudenhove-Kalergi, starting in the week of 17 February 2025. The work will include the pruning and removal of 92 trees and the transplanting of 49 trees, according to Luxtram.
