Communist Party politician Zénon Bernard has died at 80, leaving behind a legacy tied to both his political work and his family's role in the resistance during WWII.

Zénon Bernard, a former Communist Party politician, has passed away at the age of 80, as confirmed by the Luxembourg Communist Party (KPL) to RTL.

Bernard served as a communist member of the Chamber of Deputies from 1974 to 1979. His most recent political involvement was in 2017, when he ran as a candidate in the municipal elections in Esch-sur-Alzette.

His grandfather, who was also called Zénon Bernard, was a founding member of the KPL. Bernard senior was a WWII resistance fighter and died in a Nazi prison in Kassel in 1942.
