Motorists in the larger Friedhof area are urged not to pick up any hitchhikers following a car break-in on early Friday morning.
The Luxembourg police has issued an urgent appeal to motorists not to pick up any hitchhikers in the area around the Friedhof industrial zone, including Diekirch and Erpeldange-sur-Sûre.
The police are actively searching for individuals that broke into a car in Hoscheid-Dickt at around 2.15am on Friday morning and subsequently fled towards Diekirch.
A police patrol was able to locate the culprits, who were travelling in a black vehicle, at the crossroads towards Brandenbourg. The patrol followed them and found the vehicle at a service station near Friedhof. The engine was still running, but the suspects were nowhere to be found.
Motorists in the area who spot "suspicious, dirty, and potentially wet" individuals should under no circumstances give them a ride and instead contact the police emergency number 113 or the Diekirch police station at 244 80 1000.
