A horrific accident occurred on the French A4 motorway on Saturday, resulting in the tragic death of a young motorist from Diekirch.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, a tragic accident occurred in Moselle on the French A4 motorway near Varize-Vidoncourt, leading to the death of a 19-year-old man from Diekirch.
According to Le Républicain Lorrain, the incident took place at approximately 3.40am in the direction from Strasbourg to Paris. The young driver, in a vehicle with Luxembourgish plates, collided with the rear of a German tanker.
After the collision, the tanker pulled over onto the hard shoulder while the Diekirch resident stopped his car in the left lane. As the young man got out of his vehicle to cross the motorway lanes, he was struck by a 38-tonne lorry with Romanian plates, resulting in his immediate death.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
