The employee involved in the 61 million euro embezzlement scandal at Caritas allegedly confided in an online clairvoyant with links to an organised crime ring in Bulgaria.
On Thursday, the online newspaper Reporter.lu revealed there could be a link between this criminal network and the embezzlement scandal, and suggested that the public prosecutor's office is currently investigating this avenue.
Reporter.lu implied the criminal network could have used the clairvoyant to gain the Caritas employee's trust, leading to the subsequent crime.
According to sources, 25 million euros were recovered in China, another ten million in Hong Kong, and 8-9 million euros in Lithuania. Last week the public prosecutor's office announced that the investigation had uncovered over 8,000 bank transactions, amounting to the sum of 61 million euros, that had been sent to a panoply of countries across the globe at short intervals. It was not clear whether the money could be recovered or not.
