Several new features have recently been added to guichet.lu, the platform allowing Luxembourg citizens to access state services online.
The online platform guichet.lu was introduced to make access to Luxembourg's state services easier by digitalising administrative procedures. On Tuesday, Minister for Digitalisation Stéphanie Obertin unveiled several new features that were recently added to the platform.
Among these new features is a section dedicated to "life events". This section was specifically designed to assist people transitioning into new phases of their lives by listing all relevant administrative procedures related to, for instance, marriage, birth, higher education, the labour market, or pensions.
At present, ten "life events" are featured in this section. According to the Ministry for Digitalisation, the list will be expanded over the coming weeks.

Another new feature introduces the option to arrange virtual appointments between citizens and administrations. The videoconferencing technology used for these virtual appointments also allows for documents to be uploaded and exchanged.
The first administration to offer this alternative to a face-to-face appointment is the Guichet.lu helpdesk. The National Health Fund (CNS) will be the second administration, after the Government IT Centre (CTIE), to offer this service to the public in November.
In a related statement also released on Tuesday, the Ministry for Digitalisation implies that the introduction of virtual appointments will not lead to the closure of traditional reception desks in physical locations. In fact, the option to book face-to-face appointments is not just to be maintained but expanded on a regional level.
To ensure that these decentralised reception desks meet citizens' expectations, the Ministry for Digitalisation has launched a survey to gather citizens' suggestions. The survey will run until 6 December and is available in three forms: an online survey on the "Zesumme Vereinfachen" portal, via the www.guichetproximité.lu website; a paper survey conducted directly through local associations; and an information stand where members of the public can complete the survey in digital or paper format at around 20 events across the country. Stand locations and dates are available at www.zesummendigital.lu.
