The national LU-Alert system will undergo a 'realistic conditions' test on Monday, enacted specifically for 'test persons' in the vicinity of Dondelange.
As part of the country's alert system overhaul, a first message will appear for mobile phones of 'test persons' in the Dondelange area. Dondelange was determined to be the optimal location for testing as it offers the correct technical and geographical conditions for testing, the Interior Ministry announced.
Today's test will not be extended to the general public, but it is an important step in validating the proper functioning of the alarm system's new technology.
Following the summer floods of 2021, the Luxembourgish government (current to that time) opted to implement a new national alarm system. The system can be used during severe weather events or ahead of any other potential dangers to the public.
The Ministry emphasises that anyone who receives a test message by accident on Monday can ignore this alert - and no further action should be taken.
