A lawyer representing a high-ranking employee in the Caritas case who turned herself in to the investigators has issued a public statement

After the prosecutor’s office announced on Tuesday morning that the investigations are leaning towards an “executive phishing scam”, the woman’s lawyer states: “My client was not the instigator of the fraud.” His client presumably hasn’t received any money. She also doesn’t know where the money is at this point.

Is the Caritas employee a victim herself?

The high-ranking employee believes herself to have been the victim of a so-called “executive phishing scam”, as her lawyer explains.

The suspect is still under house arrest and regularly reports back to the police. The judicial supervision was put into place on 22 July 2024.

A recurring question is why the suspect is not in custody. RTL asked the prosecutor’s office, who answered, in writing, that it was a decision made by the examining magistrate who doesn’t intend to publish his reasons.
