Luxembourg, parts of France, and the Belgian border region are under a yellow alert for rain from Friday evening through Saturday.

Weather in Luxembourg

MeteoLux has issued a yellow alert for Luxembourg starting Friday evening. Heavy rain is expected between 6pm and 6am on Saturday.

The national weather service predicts continuous rain, with cumulative rainfall between 15 and 25 litres per square metre over six hours, and possibly up to 30 litres per square metre in some areas.

Depending on the movement of the rain, some parts of the country may experience more showers. Overnight temperatures will range between 16 and 18°C.

Weather in France

Parts of northern and eastern France are also under a yellow rain warning. The Lorraine region, specifically the departments of Meuse, Meurthe-et-Moselle, and Moselle, is under a yellow alert for thunderstorms from Météo France until 6am on Saturday. The latest forecast indicates that thunderstorms may produce heavy rainfall in a short period. Temperatures in these areas will remain around 20-23°C on Friday evening.

The region will again be under a thunderstorm warning in the second half of Saturday. After a gloomy morning, thunderstorms are expected to intensify and spread from the Massif Central towards Alsace-Lorraine, potentially bringing substantial rainfall in a short time.

Weather in Belgium

In the Walloon regions, only the province of Luxembourg is under a rain alert from Friday afternoon until Saturday night.

Regarding Friday evening, the Royal Meteorological Institute reports that "rainfall will be intense at times, with heavy accumulations over the extreme southeast of the country, mainly in the province of Luxembourg. Thunderstorms are also possible. The central part of the country should be spared, but skies will generally become very cloudy."

For Saturday, regular showers are forecast, continuing to affect the southeast of the country before finally clearing out in the second half of the night.
