The Ministry of Culture announced on Wednesday evening that Alexandre Ecker will be proposed to Grand Duke Henri to be the new director of the Centre for the Luxembourgish Language.
A lexicographer by training, Alexandre Ecker has been selected to become the new director of the Centre for the Luxembourgish Language (ZLS). Ecker, who has been with the ZLS since 2004 and is one of the architects behind the Luxembourg Online Dictionary (lod.lu), will thus replace Luc Marteling, who took over as RTL news director on 1 July.
Ecker is expected to formally take over the post of ZLS director on 1 October 2024. Until then, the current Commissioner for the Luxembourgish Language, Pierre Reding, will step in.
