Luxembourg's Ministry of State issued a warning on Saturday regarding a fake video of Prime Minister Luc Frieden circulating on social networks.
The video falsely depicts Prime Minister Luc Frieden inviting viewers to invest money in an artificial intelligence programme. The Ministry of State clarified in a press release on Saturday, 25 May, that the video is a fake and has been circulating for several days.
"We would like to alert that this is a fake video and that it is not, in fact, the Prime Minister who is speaking in this video," the ministry stated.
An investigation has been launched. "The matter has been passed on to the police, which is cooperating with the cybercrime unit," the statement concluded.
Additionally, several fake RTL accounts have recently surfaced again on social media. These accounts have now been reported.
