After a period of uncertainty in 2023 when reports suggested a shift in priorities for Google, sustained discussions with the US technology giant have resumed since the beginning of the year.
“I’m confident,” stated Minister Delles, who admitted that he is unable to attend all the meetings, some of which are “more technical.”
Speculation surrounding the project intensified amid announcements of Google’s interest in constructing data centres in Wallonia, Belgium. However, Minister Delles’ recent remarks signal positive momentum for Google’s presence in Luxembourg, with a final decision expected before the summer.
The project has been heavily criticised in the past, with opponents notably raising concerns regarding its excessive water consumption.
