Power outages lasting up to 80 minutes occurred across several municipalities on Thursday evening. In at least one case, they were caused by fallen trees impacting power lines.

According to energy provider Creos, affected areas included Rambrouch, Schuttrange, Sandweiler, Contern, Boulaide, Lac de la Haute-Sûre, and Winseler.

Prompt action by Creos resulted in the restoration of power to Contern, Sandweiler, and Schuttrange by 6.30pm. According to information obtained by RTL, Schrassig Prison was also affected by the power outage in Sandweiler. However, thanks to the penitentiary's emergency systems, operations were not disrupted.

By approximately 6.50pm, only the Wiltz area remained without power as a result of fallen trees affecting power lines, causing disruptions in a few streets. While Creos was unable to determine the cause of other outages at that time, their spokesperson assured that teams were actively working to resolve the issues.

An update provided just before 7.30pm confirmed the resolution of all outages. Lac de la Haute-Sûre experienced the longest interruption, lasting 80 minutes, followed by Rambrouch with 75 minutes and Winseler with 66 minutes without power.
