With 13.2% of non-Luxembourg residents in the Grand Duchy currently registered on electoral lists for the upcoming European elections on 9 June, an awareness-raising campaign has been launched to encourage broader participation.
13.2% corresponds to approximately 27,000 people. The campaign, presented on Monday morning by Minister for Family Affairs and Integration Max Hahn, alongside three of Luxembourg's MEPs, aims to motivate as many eligible voters as possible to exercise their right to vote.
Minister Hahn stressed the importance of strengthening democracy and coexistence, emphasising that 81% of the roughly 47% non-Luxembourg residents in the country are EU citizens.
"All of these people can vote in the European elections if they want to, whether in this country or in their country of origin. It is our mission, as part of the campaign, to make them aware of their right to vote in Luxembourg and to inform them about the process of registration on the electoral lists," highlighted Minister Hahn.
The campaign employs a multifaceted approach, using posters, videos, and social media posts, along with ready-to-use materials for municipalities and companies. Registration remains open until 15 April. Interested individuals can find more information at jepeuxvoter.lu.
