
An individual suspected of firing multiple shots at another man earlier this month in Luxembourg City was apprehended on Tuesday night.
The report was confirmed by the Ministry of Justice press office on Thursday afternoon.
Luxembourg and Belgian law enforcement authorities detained the 23-year-old Portuguese national just a few kilometers beyond the Belgian border in Arlon, acting on a European arrest warrant. Presently, he is being held in a Belgian detention facility.
An extradition procedure is currently underway, while the police investigation, under the direction of an examining magistrate, remains ongoing.
According to information obtained by the Luxembourg Wort, the alleged attempted murder appears to be linked to drug trafficking.
Witnesses reported that the assailant pursued his victim near a garage on Rue du Fort Neipperg in the capital and fired several shots at him shortly after 5 p.m. on 5 December.
In the aftermath of the incident, police had only mentioned that the perpetrator and victim were acquainted. The victim sustained severe injuries to the abdominal area.
