
A fourth police officer has been arrested over allegations of assault, after three others were taken into custody earlier this week.
On Thursday afternoon, the public prosecutor's office confirmed a fourth officer had been arrested in connection with an ongoing judicial investigation into aggravated police violence, obstruction of justice and forgery. Three other officers were arrested on Monday.
The officers involved are all said to belong to a Luxembourg City police station.
The incident which sparked the investigation took place on 20 May 2023. The alleged victim was a person temporarily placed in a cell to sober up following intoxication, who is said to have suffered acts of assault by the officers in question.
The investigation, headed up by the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), is ongoing.
