Earlier this week, the Kirchberg shopping centre launched its "Quiet Hour", in collaboration with Auchan, in order to create a more inclusive environment for shoppers who are sensitive to noise and light.

The initiative, which was launched on 12 June, aims to create a more peaceful shopping environment for people with autism spectrum disorder, mental health conditions, sensory issues or simply for those who would like a more relaxing atmosphere while visiting the shops.

The shopping centre will dim the lights and minimise ambient music between the hours of 9.00am and 11.am on Tuesdays (starting at 8.00am for Auchan), and from 2.00pm to 4.00pm on Thursdays.

The Kirchberg outlet is thus following in the footsteps of the Cloche d'Or shopping centre, which launched "quiet hours" in May 2023 as part of a partnership with the Luxembourg Autism Foundation (FAL), reducing lights and switching off music in public spaces. Shoppers wishing to make use of the calmer conditions and low stimuli may visit the Cloche d'Or between 4.00pm and 5.00pm on Tuesdays, and 3.00pm and 4.00pm on Thursdays.
