
If passed, the law will come into effect on 1 July.
The former lines focusing on loyalty to the Grand Duke are to be changed to the following text: “I swear to uphold the Constitution and laws, and to perform my duties with integrity, accuracy, and impartiality”.
The change will apply to municipal officials, civil servants, MPs, and members of the government administration.
The Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR) has further introduced a resolution to ensure that the oath can be recited in any of the country’s three official languages rather than just in French.
