According to energy provider Creos, the latest outage started at 4.15pm on Wednesday. While electricity in Wiltz was gone for one hour, Winseler was affected for 77 minutes, and Wincrange for 97 minutes.

On Thursday morning, Creos put out a statement to provide further explanations about the renewed outage. A total of 62 substations in the greater area of Wiltz, Schleif, Schimpach, Niederwampach, Oberwampach, and Derenbach were affected. 32 of those were back online after only two minutes.

According to the statement, a technical issue occurred on a 20,000-volt line, the reason for which remains to be determined. By 5.47pm, electricity was restored for all clients, says Creos and apologises for the inconvenience.

A similar outage already affected parts of Luxembourg’s north on 8 January. At the time, the cause was a cable defect in Roullingen.
