Luxembourg City will welcome a new pedestrian-zone on January 9th on rue de la Boucherie and rue du Marché-aux-herbes.
In a press release, the Ville de Luxembourg has announced that in an effort to increase the attractiveness of the city centre, a new car-free-zone will be created on rue de la Boucherie and rue du Marché-aux-herbes.
The measure and renovation works are all part of the city's initiative to limit motorised traffic and encourage soft mobility.
The areas of rue de la Boucherie, the part of rue du Marché-aux-Herbes located between the Grand-Rue and the rue de la Boucherie as well as the section of the Grand-Rue situated between the rue du Nord and the rue du Fossé will be closed to passing traffic from 9 January onward.
Residents and those with rights to access and parking will be granted access to the zones along with authorized deliveries between 6.00am and 10.00am.
