City mayor Lydie Polfer confirmed the move in an interview with RTL on Wednesday morning.

The Democratic Party will enter the municipal elections with a leadership pair, Polfer said. This would include her and Patrick Goldschmidt, who has been a member of the municipal council since 2009.

Current Minister of Family and Integration Corinne Cahen were also on the list, which Polfer is content about.

The full list of running candidates will be published mid-March.

Despite the workload, Polfer looks forward to remaining both mayor and MP.

Polfer has been mayor of the capital between 1982 and 1999, leaving to become foreign and deputy prime minister, and returning in 2013 to the City.
