LUkraine is raising money to send ambulances and firetrucks to Ukraine where they are urgently needed to save the life of civilians that are bombed and shelled every day.

More than 2000 ambulances and firetrucks have already been destroyed, even more damaged, explained Inna Yaremento and Olena Klopota who were guests on The Sam Steen Show on RTL Today Radio.

A fully equipped ready-to-go ambulance costs around 100,000€, a firetruck around 300,000€.

LUkraine asbl therefore launched the first step of a big international fundraising campaign in October in Luxembourg, with a goal of raising up to 10 million euros.

According to Inna and Olena Luxembourg is the first country to launch the 'Ukraine is calling' campaign, since there is a big support from media and partners in general. LUkraine also has a partnership with the Ministry of Home Affairs, which will provide eight ambulances to the cause.

In the course of the last year, Luxembourg has already sent 14 ambulances, of which two are already destroyed. "These things don't last long through the war", the women furthermore explained.

The first ambulance that was ever send from Luxembourg to Ukraine was during the first invasion in 2014, so the idea of sending ambulances and firetrucks is not something new.

Now that the campaign has been launched in Luxembourg, other countries such as the US, Belgium, France and Germany will follow, since everyone of those countries has a Ukrainian association ready to volunteer their time and effort to the cause.
