According to a press release issued on Thursday by the Ministry of Energy, a preliminary assessment revealed that the Grand Duchy reduced its consumption by 37% in August. In September, gas consumption was reduced by 26% compared to the reference period from 2017 to 2022.

Minister for Energy Claude Turmes expressed his satisfaction with the result. Turmes says in the press release that “current figures demonstrate that in Luxembourg, all actors – the State, the municipalities, businesses, and residents – have responded to the call and are making efforts to save gas.” Nonetheless, the Minister cautions everyone to maintain the effort, as gas consumption linked to heating could still increase considerably depending on how cold the winter months will be.
