Commuters and motorists reliant on the A1 will have to prepare for disruption on the Trier motorway for the next month.

The roadworks will begin at the Sernigerbaach viaduct on the border between Germany and Luxembourg, and are expected to last just over a month.

The construction site will be situated between the Wasserbillig services and the Mertert interchange, where the speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h. The roadworks will commence at 7pm on Thursday 18 August, concluding by 5am on Monday 19 September.

Motorists will be permitted to use just one side of the motorway, which will be split into two lanes, thus justifying the speed limit. The roadworks are likely to have an effect on traffic travelling to and from the border, so motorists are advised to adjust their travel times accordingly.
