Eight Boeing planes will each be equipped with two high-tech boxes containing all the necessary tools to provide people with access to various forms of entertainment, even while on ‘airplane mode’.
The new system was tested for a first time during a recent Luxair flight from Findel to Faro in Portugal. A small team of engineers lead by Olivier Heliot was on board to monitor the functioning of the entertainment concept. Luxair’s Dan Colling explained that the airline wants to provide its clients with the most advanced technologies currently available.
To connect to Luxair’s new entertainment system, people only need a tablet or smartphone, which can scan a QR code to establish initial access. A selection of films, games, podcasts, and flight data is then at one’s disposal, content that will be updated on a daily basis.
