The second campaign to collect signatures at the country's municipalities failed to meet its target. There will thus be no referendum on part of the constitutional reform.
In total, the campaign only managed to collect 1,652 valid signatures. 25,000 would have been required to trigger a referendum. The result was announced by the Ministry of State.
About three months ago, a previous campaign to trigger a referendum about the chapter on judicial reform managed to collect around 7,300 signatures but still fell short of the threshold of 25,000.
