The Board of Governors of the University of Luxembourg has appointed Professor Jens Kreisel as Rector of the University of Luxembourg.

Professor Kreisel will succeed the current rector, Stéphane Pallage, on 1 January 2023. Pallage had announced that he would not seek a second mandate.
 
Professor Kreisel is currently vice-rector of the University of Luxembourg. He was born and raised in Dortmund and studied physics in Germany and France. His academic career also brought him to the universitites in Lyon, Grenoble, Oxford, and Warwick. In 2013, he was awarded a PEARL (Programme Excellence Award for Research in Luxembourg) by the National Research Fund.
