Four employees of the unit were also injured, and two youths were transferred to Schrassig prison.
Police were called to Unisec, a closed unit for minors in Dreiborn, at around 10.30pm on Saturday as a group of six youths vehemently refused to return to their rooms.
The youths did not cooperate following the arrival of police, opting instead to assault both the police officers and employees of the facility by throwing various objects as well as physically attacking them. Three police officers were injured during the altercation, as were four employees of the unit, and three youths were also taken to hospital to have their injuries checked. There was also considerable material damage, according to the police.
The police officers eventually managed to get the situation under control, and by order of the public prosecutor's office two of the young people were taken to Schrassig prison.
