Despite pandemic84% success rate in vocational training

RTL Today
The overall success rate for vocational training is almost 84% for the 2020-2021 summer session, compared to 76.5% and 77% in 2020 and 2019 respectively.

For young people in CCP (certificate of professional competence) training, the success rate is also almost 84%; for those in DAP (diploma of professional competence) training, it is more than 84.50%; for those who studied for a DT (technician’s diploma), almost 83% were successful.

Although the details of successes by training show some fluctuations between 2019 and 2021, stability and progression characterise most results.

The Ministry of Education attributed the high success rates to the flexibility and adaptation efforts by students, teachers, and professionals.
A maximum of courses and learning periods was upheld during the pandemic, and various complementary measures were implemented :

- Extension of the deadline for finding an apprenticeship position from 1 November to 31 December 2020;
- Introduction of a one-off premium of €1,500 to €5,000 per apprentice for training companies taking on one or more apprentices in 2020-2021;
- Opening more full-time classes in 2020-2021 that do not require an apprenticeship position;
- Schools allowed to act as training companies.

In addition, the class of 2020/2021 is the first in Luxembourg to receive a digital certificate of achievement recognised at European level, the Europass Digital Credentials. Luxembourg will play a pioneering role in the use of this new tool developed by the European Commission, serving as a model for good practice in this area.
