After flooding in the Bettembourg area caused traffic disruptions, trains between Luxembourg and Thionville are circulating again since 12.30 pm on Tuesday.

The heavy rainfall led to a partial flooding of the signal box in Bettembourg on Saturday. A similar incident had already occurred the week before. According to Alessandra Nonnweiler from the Luxembourg National Railway Company (CFL), the sewage system was simply overwhelmed by the substantial amounts of water.

The CFL's technical teams have been repairing the affected installations since Saturday. The CFL plans to adapt the sewage system at this location.

Since 12.30 pm on Tuesday, train circulation between Luxembourg City and Thionville is progressively picking up again.
