Seven years later, the first shopping mall followed: La Belle Etoile in Bertrange. In 2001, the entrepreneur stepped back from his official duties, after which his son Max Leesch and colleague Laurent Schonckert took over.
Paul Leesch was born on 3 July 1929 into a family of grocers. His parents, Joseph Leesch and Marie Wiltgen, had been established in the Gare district since 1900.
Leesch married Swiss-born Uschi Studer, who died in 1984. They had five children: Danièle, Maximilian, Joseph, Denise, and Doris.
