Djuna Bernard and Meris Sehović were re-elected unopposed to the presidency of the Green Party (Déi Gréng) at Saturday's party congress.

"Green is the colour of climate and environmental protection," said the re-elected presidents of the Green Party, while outlining the party's line for the coming years.

Déi Gréng also have other short- and medium-term priorities such as the way out of the pandemic or the strengthening of social cohesion. According to them, the well-being of society cannot be measured only through economic growth. Their goal, they explained, is to achieve a good life for all citizens.

"This well-being is closely linked to a clean and preserved nature," Sehović stated. The Green Party wans to see fundamental changes in the area of energy, without putting a greater burden on households with limited income. Those who pollute the most must also pay the price for their actions, the new and former presidents stressed, circling out the industry.

Both presidents also highlighted their party's involvement in supporting culture during the pandemic. The Green Party has been the most supportive of this sector during the crisis, according to Bernard and Sehović, who pointed out that in Luxembourg, the cultural sector has suffered less than in many other countries.
