LuxembourgVaccination campaign enters second phase next week

Invitations will be sent this week to people aged 75 and over, as well as people considered vulnerable due to health conditions. Vaccinations will begin from Monday 22 February.

Minister of Health Paulette Lenert announced that vaccinations will begin on Monday, as long as the necessary doses are delivered. Invitations will go out this week ahead of the planned start date.

Who will be eligible?

Group 2a consists of Luxembourg residents aged 75 and over, beginning with the oldest members in this category.

Group 2b will apply to people considered a high risk due to their health - around 5,000 people, according to Lenert.

This group will include adults with Down’s syndrome, adults with a solid organ transplant (including people on a waiting list), who have had a hematopoietic stem cell transplant (within the first 6 months or under treatment immunosuppressant), who have cancer and malignant hemopathy under treatment (chemotherapy, radiotherapy, immunotherapy) and those suffer from congenital immune deficiencies.

How to book an appointment?

People over 75 years old will receive an invitation from the Ministry of Health by post, with detailed instructions on how to make an appointment at a vaccination centre of their choice.

In addition, a hotline has been specially set up for this purpose under the number (+352) 247-65533 to provide more personalised assistance.

Cancer patients who are regularly monitored by one of the country’s oncology services will be invited directly by the hospital in which they are treated to be vaccinated.

The highly vulnerable will be selected through their doctor or medical specialist from 1 March and will then receive an invitation by post.

New vaccine centres

In addition to the Victor Hugo Hall in Limpertsberg and the new vaccination centre which opened on Monday in Esch / Belval,https://today.rtl.lu/news/luxembourg/a/1673169.html two new vaccination centres are set to open their doors in the north and in the east of the country.

On 25 February, the vaccination centre located in the Sports Hall of the neuro-psychiatric hospital (CHNP) in Ettelbruck will open from 8am, and the one located in the “Badboeschelchen” scout chalet in Mondorf will be operational from 1pm onwards.

As of 26 February, opening hours will be the same for all vaccination centres in Luxembourg.

Opening hours:

- Monday from 1pm to 7pm;
- Tuesday to Friday from 7am to 7pm;
- Saturday from 7am to 1pm.
