The government has no plans to regulate or adapt fireworks this year beyond the legal framework, according to the response of Prime Minister Xavier Bettel and Interior Minister Taina Bofferding to an urgent parliamentary question from CSV MP Nancy Kemp-Arendt.

As the two ministers write, the curfew forbids public circulation between 11pm and 6am anyway and thus one should not light fireworks at that time.

Most municipalities have banned fireworks already and only permitted them under certain conditions.

According to the penal code, persons who do not comply with the ban can be fined 25 to 250 euros.
