The incident took place around 9pm on Sunday night, on Place de Marché in Pétange.
Police were called to the scene after a fight broke out involving a knife, as one person suffered stab wounds.
The hostilities were said to have begun at an establishment before progressing to the street. Two vehicles collided, with the occupants exchanging blows. One of the perpetrators was armed with a knife.
When police arrived, they found two people with injuries - one with stab wounds, the other was reported as having serious injuries. They were treated on the spot before being taken to hospital.
Several of the men involved in the incident fled the scene in an anthracite grey Volkswagen Touareg. The registration number is not known. Police are looking for witnesses to help them identify the vehicle and the three or four men who escaped in it. An official investigation has been launched.
