The government is set to meet with health experts on Sunday. A subsequent state council meeting will take place around 5pm.
Prime Minister Xavier Bettel on Friday stressed that the dialogue between the government and health experts will be key when it comes to devising strategies of how to break the second wave that the country is currently witnessing.
During Friday's EU summit, Bettel underlined the importance of keeping a close eye on how the situation evolves until Sunday.
According to the prime minister, the current situation is different from the first wave of infections. He explained that the average age of patients is lower than in March, and that hospitals are not yet risking to be overburdened.
Prior to the summit, Bettel stressed that he would explain Luxembourg's ambitious large-scale testing strategy to his European counterparts.
Belgium's Prime Minister reportedly confirmed that her country would take the high number of tests carried out in Luxembourg into account.
