On Friday, the Red Cross once again launched an appeal for donors, particularly in these uncertain times.

The Red Cross is still in need of blood donations in order to supply hospitals and treat the sick.

Even during this confinement period, the Luxembourg Blood Transfusion Centre remains open and outside collections are maintained, with some modifications. Donors are spaced throughout the procedure and must disinfect their hands. The Red Cross is also responsible for taking their temperature on arrival. As a precaution, the doctors wear masks.

Although it is necessary to reduce travel and remain confined, travel for the donation is authorised. In the event of a roadside check, the invitation to donate blood can be presented to the police. Otherwise, make a call to the Transfusion Centre and staff will confirm the need to bring in donors.

Please note: if you have been in contact with a sick person or placed in quarantine by the Ministry of Health, you will have to wait 28 days after the last contact before you can donate your blood.

Further information can be found www.dondusang.lu or over the phone on 2755-4000. The Centre is open from 8am-4pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday, or 8am-6pm on Wednesday and Friday.
