The head of the "Hôpitaux Robert Schuman" emergency department issued a warning on Facebook, saying the situation was critical and appealing for the public to stay at home.
Dr. Emile Bock and anaesthetist Dr. Cyril Thix published the warning on Facebook on Monday.
All analysis and information taken from hospitals in neighbouring countries point to a critical situation in which resources and materials could be limited.
The statement appealed to the public to observe all the guidelines provided, such as avoiding social contact, keeping 2 metre distances away from others and remaining at home as much as possible, to reduce pressure on hospitals.

The emergency services coordinator in Ettelbruck, Dr. Tom Manderscheid, joined the appeal.
Manderscheid stated that although 80% of those with coronavirus would not suffer extreme health issues, Luxembourg should learn from other countries and avoid reaching the point where not all patients could receive adequate treatment. It was therefore vital to ensure that intensive care facilities and logistics could treat the number of patients.

Dr. Romain Nati, the general director of the CHL, also launched an appeal on Twitter for the public to support one another by staying at home and observing the health guidelines.
